Cable/Twist - 2nd and 3rd shifts

Position Summary:

Perform set-ups/changeovers and operates various Twist and Cable machines.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to meet production standards by performing quality checks in accordance with ISO quality procedures, following the process and manufacturing specification sheets
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing process meeting production schedules and customer deadlines
  • Responsible for machine set-up working with pay-off and take-up procedures, including installation, gear changes, and removal of a variety of reel sizes and closing dies
  • Consistently run machine efficiently on a continuous line
  • Responsible to properly tag reels, string wire break device, tape and drain wires
  • Work with power switches, run controls, adjust speeds, and tension settings
  • Must complete written production paperwork neatly and legible, including QC quality sheets
  • Maintain cleanliness of machines
  • Observes safety procedures and uses equipment and materials properly
  • Subscribes to and practices 5S principles, procedures, and guidelines
  • Work a full time shift schedule with regular attendance and ability to work overtime as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Reading comprehension skills to understand written manufacturing specifications, process sheets and instructions and procedures in English
  • Oral and written communication skills to exchange information with co-workers and supervisors
  • Good math skills and above average mechanical aptitude necessary
  • Attention to detail is required in machine operation to minimize scrap
  • Familiar with cable and wire products and material
  • Ability to enter data into a computerized system
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Hands on experience and knowledge using micrometers and other measuring devices
  • Read and interpret gauges, dials, equipment controls

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One-year manufacturing experience and skills with machinery equipment and troubleshooting desired
  • Cable and wire experience a plus
  • Must have visual acuity and ability to distinguish colors and pass a colorblind test to identify coded cables, products, and material

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching
  • Repetitive pushing and pulling motion of wire cable materials
  • Required to talk, hear and demonstrate manual hand and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination to handle machinery, materials, and parts
  • Must be able to lift, carry, relocate, move a minimum of 50 lbs of objects, materials, and/or product
